How Eco Step and the Diaspora Are Breathing New Life into Rural Armenia
For a year now, DV Invest LLC, under its Eco Step brand, has been collaborating with the Franco-Armenian Cultural Union of Septeme and its surroundings to help develop Armenia’s small villages. The project focuses on creating new jobs, encouraging young people and children to stay in their native communities, and strengthening rural vitality.
The first charitable efforts began in the village of Yaghdan, Lori Province, where 12 greenhouses were built for family farming, along with one large communal greenhouse. But the investment didn’t stop there. In the next stage, solar photovoltaic systems were installed on public buildings to improve energy efficiency.
Importantly, local youth were actively involved in the project. By cooperating with Eco Step’s technical team, they gained practical knowledge in installing solar energy systems. This contributed not only to their professional growth but also to building local capacity.
On May 7, the project was officially launched, led by Olivier Decottignies, the Ambassador of France to Armenia. During the event, completed work was presented—including the greenhouses and solar installations—along with plans for future initiatives and continued charitable efforts in rural Armenia.
This partnership is a shining example of how the diaspora and local businesses can work together to foster sustainable development in rural communities. After all, patriotism grows step by step.
